Convocation:
Welcome to Scholars! Each fall, Scholars Convocation rallies students, faculty and staff on move-in day to celebrate incoming students’ entrance to our community. Students are welcomed by Executive Director Dr. Marilee Lindemann, faculty, staff, and outstanding student leaders.
Service Day:
All incoming Scholars begin their college experience with a day of service in communities surrounding University of Maryland – a tradition that is more than 20 years old! Students get to know others in their Scholars program while building relationships with faculty and making a difference in our neighboring communities. Learn More about Service Day
Block Party & Info Fair:
Learn about ways to get involved in the Scholars community, or just come for the party. Scholars Block Party features games, food, and music, and showcases student organizations and involvement opportunities throughout the Scholars community.Contact Jeany Cadet for more information.
Citation Awards Ceremony:
Each fall, Scholars celebrates the acoomplishments of students in our recent citation class. Each program honors students for outstanding achievement and outstanding citizenship. In addition, six students are honored for exemplifying the founding ideals and values of College Park Scholars.
Faculty and Staff Appreciation Awards:
Each spring, students nominate Scholars faculty and staff to receive a variety of awards that honor their commitment to students and to the community. Academic Showcase:
Each Spring, second-year College Park Scholars present their capstone projects at the Academic Showcase. The Showcase features individual and team poster displays, highlighting work in research, service-learning and internships. A number of outstanding posters are recognized during the showcase awards ceremony and earn cash prizes. Learn more about the annual Academic Showcase.
“Step Up to Bat for Kids” Charity Softball Tournament:
Our annual charity softball tournament, celebrating more than 20 years, raises thousands of dollars for charities in our community and serves as the culmination of the race for the Scholars Cup. Each Scholars program selects a local or regional charity to represent during the tournament. They raise funds on behalf of their selected charity throughout the year, earning Scholars Cup points along the way. Learn more about the annual “Step Up to Bat for Kids” Charity Softball Tournament.

The Scholars Cup is a fundraising competition for charity and a series of competitive events that builds community throughout the year. Each program accumulates points for participating in events and raising funds for their selected charity. The Scholars Cup culminates in the annual “Step Up to Bat for Kids” Charity Softball Tournament in May.Learn more about the Scholars Cup.

The College Park Scholars annual theme brings our community together to engage in a shared intellectual experience. We take on a complex, multifaceted problem that demands thoughtful, creative, hands-on solutions.
